However unbeknownst to Stuart, his future father in law has actually hatched an evil plot to kill Stuart and assume control of his kingdom as well. Sending Stuart off in cursed armor. Stuart is attacked by wild animals before he can ever reach Loki. Loki finds him and nurses him back to health while unraveling the enchantment on the armor and revealing the evil plot.
Stuart and Loki fall in love and through love are able to remove the curses on all of Loki's children aside from the one who was slaughtered.
This novel is super sweet, funny and heartwarming. Stuart helps Loki see that there is a reason to keep on living. He helps draw him from his crushing depression and give him hope again.
However this novel is also very spicy. High spice content warning. So if spice makes you uncomfortable, again skip this one and wait, maybe not for the next one but a couple after that haha. I'm finding some very spicy books on this list.
It made me happy seeing Loki finally be happy. I don't know a lot about his character in the whole Marvel universe. But it does seem like he often gets the short end of the stick so to speak. Also the things Odin did in this book....were downright horrifying and make Loki look like a saint...maybe that was the point. I did enjoy reading something from Loki's perspective rather than watching all the other media surrounding his character where he is only evil.
I'm happy that Stuart found him as well. Stuart deserved happiness. He's definitely a gullible character. How could he not even consider the possibility of a hostile takeover when presented with clearly faulty armor and told to go kill an all powerful mage. But he's also a super sweet character. Loyal and loving and downright adorable. I'm glad he found Loki and was able to get Loki's children back so that he had a family, people around him who would have his back and care for him.
All in all it was a fun read.
